Climate Change

The world is warming and there’s no debating that fact.  “Who cares?  It won’t affect me or my children”. Unfortunately there are too many people throughout our world but more specifically the United States who have this fixed mindset.  There are scientists who truly don’t believe that climate change or global warming are actual issues for our planet.  At what point do we start to truly focus on this issue and start to create the social habits necessary to create change?  I have one simple suggestion and that’s to start educating early and educating often.  In high school, there was little to no talk about climate change. Our teachers didn’t educate us on it and nobody seemed to care. Our country needs to start with educating young children in each generation and continue their education as they grow and develop their own opinions and develop the ability to strive to make a change. Our planet needs to be inhabited by people who know that their actions have consequences on earth and that the small things add up. A small thing such as littering can be catastrophic.  If every single person thought that their one piece of trash wouldn’t hurt the environment, then our world would be even more covered in trash. We need to educate children in schools and continue that education through high school so that our young adults have the knowledge and opportunities to change the world.
